Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is Cathie M Clark Consulting LLC (CMC)?

Cathie M Clark is a communications consultant who fills the role of a strategic advisor, helping organizations and individuals shape, manage, and deliver clear messages to target audiences. A communications consultant takes a wide-angle view of how an organization connects with people both internally (employees, leadership) and externally (customers, media, investors, the public).

2. Why do I need a Communications Consultant?

To think about conveying your message to your audience so you can concentrate on building your products or performing your service. They cut through internal jargon to craft clear, compelling copy that helps visitors understand your value proposition and connect your brand message to your target audience's needs. An outside expert spots confusing layouts, weak calls-to-action, spelling or grammar errors, or disjointed storytelling that you and your team are too close to see.

3. Why should I invest in fixing my old website?

You know that there's something wrong with it but don't want to spend your time and money to replace it. Beyond the obvious fact that you already paid for the design and branding, changing either of those things confuses your existing clients/customers. People hate change. "What am I looking at now?" and "Where is the page I always go to?" "Why did they think this was necessary?" And the cost of fixing is much less than that of a new design. Investing in fixing an old website protects your business from losing customers, security breaches, and falling behind competitors. Modern visitors expect fast page loads (under 2 seconds) and clean mobile navigation. Slow or broken links drive high bounce rates and lost sales.

4. Is an old website better than a new-generation website?

Your old site was most likely designed by a human, using either HTML or Javascript, which are the two languages that are the foundation of the internet to this day. New-generation sites are templates designed by expensive software. The humans who bought the software do not know how to go to the underlying HTML to fix them if they break nor tweak the design to meet your exact needs. Using a template that your competition may also adopt is embarrassing. Your older, unique website is also often better in specific areas like search engine authority, established audience trust, and cost-effective preservation. An established domain has accumulated backlinks, history, and trust with search engines over several years, making it harder for a brand-new site to outrank it right away. Older sites have existing bookmarks, loyal returning visitors, and known URLs. Preserving these avoids breaking user habits or losing traffic. Older-style static pages load fast and don't contain heavy modern scripts, pop-ups, chat widgets, etc., that are quite often a problem for mobile device users.

5. Is it easy to work with a communications consultant?

Very easy and most times FUN. You love to talk about your business and yet don't feel comfortable confiding in others. Use of a consultant comes with a customized contract that carries, among other legal protections, a CONFIDENTIALITY clause that reassures you that the conversation goes no further. The first meeting is free and a good use of your time.
